About Us

“Meraki” is a Greek word that beautifully captures the spirit of doing something with passion, creativity, and love, a philosophy at the heart of everything we create.

Based in Mumbai, India’s fashion and design capital, we are a hand-embroidery studio dedicated to creating timeless, high-quality handcrafted pieces for global fashion houses, interior brands, and bespoke project partners. Our work blends centuries-old Indian craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, ensuring every piece that leaves our studio carries precision, creativity, and artistry and embodies timeless elegance.

Meraki Embroidery was founded in 2019 by Sangeeta, a fashion graduate with over two decades of experience in the world of understated luxury for women’s wear. A deep fascination for textiles, embellishment, and couture craftsmanship led to the creation of a professional design and embroidery studio built on artistry, precision, and devotion to the craft. What began as a personal creative journey is today a global embroidery house specialising in hand and machine embroidery for:

Haute Couture

Ready-to-Wear

Bridal Wear

Evening Wear

Leather Embroidery

Our Process

Design Inspiration & Concept Development

We develop embroidery collections that are modern, feminine, and aligned with global seasonal trends. Inspiration comes from trend reports, trade fairs, exhibitions, and close conversations with our clients.

Client Selection & Customisation

Clients may choose from our in-house embroidery swatches or share their own designs and patterns. We then create an initial sample based on the brief.

Artwork Creation (Tracing & Printing)

The approved design is traced on paper - known as the Artwork - punched, and then superimposed onto the client’s fabric for precise placement.

Embroidery Execution

Using traditional frames and specialised techniques, our artisans bring the artwork to life with beads, crystals, stones, sequins, feathers, ribbons, antique pieces, and more.

Quality Control

Every stage is carefully monitored to ensure impeccable finishing and consistency. Only after thorough QC is the piece packed for delivery.

Pricing & Timelines

• Pricing is shared after evaluating materials, intricacy, and mastery required.
• Bulk order prices are recalculated based on quantity.
• Typical sampling lead time: 1–2 weeks
• Typical production lead time: 4–6 weeks

Sustainability

Handcrafted Luxury with Responsibility

For us, sustainability is woveninto our process, not added to it. As a craft-driven brand, Meraki Embroidery naturally embraces mindful and ethical production

Empowering Local Artisans

We provide steady work opportunities to artisans across Mumbai, helping preserve India’s textile heritage and supporting traditional craft communities

Low-Impact Craftsmanship

Embroidery at Meraki is done by hand or with minimal-energy machines—significantly reducing environmental footprint compared to mass manufacturing.

Thoughtful Material Use

We use beads, stones, crystals, sequins, threads, feathers, ribbons, and antique embellishments with care and purpose. Fabric scraps, threads, and excess materials are reused for sampling or responsibly recycled.

Made to Last

Our focus on fine craftsmanship ensures long-lasting garments, supporting the philosophy of slow fashion and reducing throwaway textiles. At Meraki, sustainability means respect—respect for craft, for artisans, and for the planet.

Preserving Traditional Craftsmanship

We actively support and preserve traditional techniques by providing artisans with meaningful work and opportunities to refine their skills. By keeping these crafts alive, we ensure that heritage techniques continue to thrive in modern fashion.
