Our work is a culmination of many steps, and we at Meraki are involved at all stages of the process.
Initially, a designer creates the intricate pattern that is the hallmark of this craft. This pattern is transfered onto tracing paper, known as the khaka, and submitted to the embroidery artisans, the kaarigars. It is then that the actual finished product comes into being, using a variety of colours and materials, ranging from fine gold wire to precious stones.
